How to Draw a Chinese Woman
Women in Chinese culture are held to high standards of virtuous behavior, cautioned speech, and industriousness. Nevertheless, many Chinese women defied gender convention to become famous poets, artists, calligraphers, historians, and rulers.
To impress a Chinese woman, compliment her unique beauty and be a true gentleman. This doesn’t just mean opening doors, but listening to her, helping her, and giving her little gifts.
Eyes
If you want to attract a Chinese girl, then you have to know how to draw her eyes. They are very large and slanted with a slight bulge in the middle. This is because of their genetic makeup and the way they were raised by their parents.
In order to make them look more realistic, you should draw a full circle for the eyeball and then erase parts that fall outside of it. Then, sketch the iris using curves that taper towards the inner corner of the eye. This is called the caruncula, and it separates the iris from the rest of the eyeball.
Also, you must understand that her family is very important to her. If you want her to think that you are a gentleman, then you should respect her family members and listen to them when they talk. You should also try to find common ground with them and be willing to compromise.
Nose
The nose is one of the most important features on a woman’s face. It can be difficult to draw, but if you take it step by step, you’ll be able to create a nose that is both attractive and realistic.
Begin with a circle in the center of the page. This will be your guide for the rest of the nose. Make it big enough that you feel comfortable drawing around it. You can always shrink it later, but starting out large will give you more flexibility when shaping the final nose.
On either side of the circle, draw two curved lines for the nostrils. The first should be a curvy “L” shape that wraps slightly around the left nostril, and the second should be a little backward “J” that curves into the bigger circle for the right nostril.
Next, add a horizontal line through the middle of your circle. This is the outline for the bridge of the nose, and it should be about 1
Finally, shade your guidelines. Remember, anything that is close to your guidelines will be shaded heavier than areas that are farther away. Use a light pencil to begin shading, and then switch to a thicker one when shading in the darkest spots. Be sure to shade over the nostrils as well, and keep in mind that lighter shading will result in a more feminine nose, while darker shades will produce a masculine look. The shading you do will also change the shape of your nose, so don’t be afraid to experiment a bit!
Mouth
The mouth is a key part of the face and gives it expressions such as happy, sad, angry, confused, grumpy etc. To draw a mouth make two “U” shaped lines, the lowest point of the first line should be the same distance from the bottom as the highest point of the second. Then add creases to the lips, these should be curved. Leave white for shading, this will help to make them look realistic. There should be about 10 creases on each lip.
Hair
In traditional Chinese culture, a woman’s family is incredibly important. She must respect her parents, grandparents and elders, listen to their advice and do what they ask of her without question. She must also show respect for her husband and children. In addition to these rules, a chinese woman must always be polite when in the presence of her family and never talk over them.
Like the xianxia characters we watch in our favourite xianxia novels, Red Yao women don’t let down their hair for sleep either. Their intricate hairdos serve as a silent social network, declaring their status to the world at large via the art of hair styling.
